The filter chamber of a chamber filter press consists of a chamber or concave plate. The filter chamber of this construction has a fixed filtering capacity. The chamber plate is a filter element with a fixed volume. It provides the simplest filtration process and is suitable for most standard applications. Chamber filter presses with chamber plate technology are used in applications where the required filter press process performance can be achieved without the need for cake cleaning or squeezing.
At the start of the filtration cycle, the press and the filter platesare closed by a (hydraulic) locking cylinder. The closing cylinder presses the filter plates together by means of a pressure plate and increases the hydraulic pressure accordingly until the desired nominal closing pressure is reached. Due to the design, a chamber is formed between the individual filter plates, which represents the process chamber. The suspension to be filtered is pumped through the turbidity inlet of the feed table into the chamber with a suitable feed pump and concentrated there. Depending on the respective application, the filter plates are lined with special filter cloths which, in view of the process characteristics, retain the solids significantly during the flow.
